The Mason's Elder Outreach Program to help older homeowners with small home maintenance jobs like changing lightbulbs in ceiling or outdoor lights, changing batteries in smoke detectors, cleaning gutters, cutting up branches that have fallen in the yard, adding a handrail to the stairs, or replacing a board on the steps. This program is available to older people who need a little help in maintaining their home safely,

If you would like to request help with your home or property, call Aging Well in Waldo County at:
                                           218-0207 and select Option 2

Leave a message about what you want done and your call will be returned.

If the project is something the Masons can do, they will send a volunteer. If they cannot do the work you require, Aging Well in Waldo County may recommend a solution for you.

Invasive Plant Control

posted Jul 6, 2021, 6:31 AM by Town Office   [ updated Jul 6, 2021, 6:36 AM ]

"The Maine Forest Service is to provide up to $85,000 over the next two years for local governments, municipalities, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, and private family woodland owners to obtain Invasive Plant Control Practice Plans for their woods.

Supported by a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service, financial incentives for the plans are available to public and private woodland owners with 10- to 1,000-wooded acres in Maine. Reimbursement of up to 50% of the cost of an IPCPP is based on the number of acres covered in the plan. An average woodlot with between 10 and 100 acres may receive up to $400 maximum incentive; larger lots will have larger maximum incentive amounts.

The plans will provide woodland owners with maps and treatment recommendations for invasive plants on their land."

For more information, you can contact the Maine Forest Service Program Manager Jan Santerre at 207-287-4987. Applications are due by 5pm on July 12; the application has May as the deadline, but it has been extended.
